How To Create A Tutorial

How to get started with creating a tutorial, and how to add an activity, lesson, survey, test, reusable content, and a section to your tutorial. How to publish your tutorial.

1. Create a new tutorial by first making sure you are in admin mode, then by clicking "+add new"at the top left.

2. Click "+create tutorial" below Add New

3. Name the Tutorial and then click "create"

4. Add an Overview to the tutorial. Every tutorial requires an overview where you describe what the tutorial will be about. Enter some text in the text box, or drag and drop an intro video. Adding learning objectives is optional. Adding a signature with your picture and job title is also optional.

5. Once you add something in the overview section, look over to the table of contents on the right hand side. You can click +Add to start adding content. It will give you options of different elements you can add to your tutorial. They are listed in alphabetical order

  • Activity: This element allows you to ask your learners to show what they have learned. You can ask them to write a response, upload a file, or insert a link. You can also select "submit for review" so an admin will receive an email to approve or reject the response.
  • Lesson: This element allows you to provide information to your learners in the form of text, images, or video. Here is the article for adding a lesson to your tutorial: https://support.nicheacademy.com/knowledge/how-to-add-a-lesson-to-a-tutorial
  • Survey: A good way to get feedback from your learners. There are several types of questions you can ask learners ranging from multiple choice to ranking and rating questions.
  • Test: Allows you to grade your learners. Tests do not provide feedback to learners. There are three different types of questions you can ask: multiple choice, select all that apply, and fill in the blank. "Allow Retake" is automatically selected, giving learners a chance to review the learning materials and get a better score if they want.
  • Reusable Content: You can add things from your reusable content library. Things you may want in your reusable content library are things you may be reusing in multiple tutorials, like a contact page for example.
  • Section: Use sections to help you organize your table of contents.

6. Publish Your Tutorial: On the right hand side, at the bottom of your table of contents, there is a "publish" button you can click to make your tutorial available for your learners.

*Remember that some content must be added to the overview section in order for the tutorial to be publishable.

You can also publish a tutorial by going to the homepage, finding your tutorial, clicking the three dots on the bottom right corner, then clicking publish. You can also upload a thumbnail image to your tutorial to make it stand out. Images that are 1250 px by 720 px work best.
